Terms of Service

The rules of the road for using SteamTools.games.

Last updated: 2026-06-29

Acceptance of terms

By visiting SteamTools.games or using the generator, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

What the service is

SteamTools.games is a free, browser-based utility that produces a SteamTools manifest and Lua pair for a given App ID. It is a thin layer over Steam's public APIs. The site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Valve, SteamTools, or SteamDB.

No accounts, no fees

We do not require an account and we do not charge a fee. If anyone asks you to pay for access to SteamTools.games, they are not us.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape the generator at a rate higher than 1 request per 1.5 seconds per IP. The rate limiter will block you above that, and we reserve the right to ban abusive clients entirely.
  • Use the service to do anything illegal in your jurisdiction.
  • Attempt to circumvent the rate limit (e.g. by rotating IP addresses, spoofing user agents, or running the request through a botnet).
  • Repackage the generated files behind a paywall, a malware installer, or a misleading landing page.
  • Use the service to harass or harm SteamTools, SteamDB, Valve, or any third party.

Intellectual property

The site's source code (the generator, the search wrapper, the static pages) is owned by the operator. The generated *.manifest and *.lua files are derived from data published by Steam and are not our work; use them as SteamTools upstream permits.

We do not claim any trademark over "SteamTools", "Steam", "Valve", or any other third-party mark. All such marks are the property of their respective owners.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do our best to keep it accurate and up, but we do not warrant that:

  • The generated manifest and Lua will be byte-identical to what SteamTools upstream would produce.
  • The service will be available at any particular time.
  • The service will be free of bugs, security vulnerabilities, or interruptions.

If something breaks, the fastest path to a fix is the Discord.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the service, including but not limited to lost data, lost profits, or business interruption.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page and announced on the blog. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Contact

Questions, complaints, and takedown requests all go to the Discord. A moderator will route you to the right person.
