Privacy Policy

How SteamTools.games handles your data: a plain-language, no-accounts, no-tracking policy.

Last updated: 2026-06-29

Short version

SteamTools.games is a free, no-account utility. We do not ask for your email, do not require a login, and do not set tracking cookies. Server logs are kept for 14 days and then deleted. That is the entire policy.

What the generator does

When you type a game name or an App ID, the request goes to our server, which in turn calls Steam's public store and appdetails APIs. The only data we process is:

  • The search string you typed.
  • The App ID you confirmed in the dropdown.
  • A short-lived in-memory entry of the result so the rate limiter can do its job.

We do not write your search history to disk, and we do not share it with any third party other than Steam itself (which is necessary to perform the lookup).

Cookies and local storage

We use two pieces of browser storage, both local to your device:

  • steamtools.recent.v1 — a small list of the App IDs you have generated recently, so the "Recent" strip on the home page can show them. You can clear it from your browser's site data settings.
  • A single first-party session cookie used for CSRF protection on the POST /api/generate endpoint. It is HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, and contains no personal data.

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Plausible, Fathom, Hotjar, or any other third-party analytics or advertising product.

Server logs

Our edge node records standard request logs (IP address, user agent, path, response code) for abuse detection. Logs are rotated every 14 days and then permanently deleted. Logs are not sold, shared, or used to build advertising profiles.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because the service collects no personal data at all, the practical effect of this section is nil.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything material, we will bump the date at the top of this page and post a short note on the blog. The change will not be retroactive.

Contact

The fastest way to reach a human is the Discord. For privacy-specific requests, message any active moderator and you will be put in touch with the operator of the service.
